Moby Dick by Herman Melville

Written by Gracie Cooper. Posted in Books

One of the definitions of art is to represent human activity in all its forms and at all levels. Following this thread of thought, Moby Dick is one of the best novels, because the American author Herman Melville was able to draw a perfect parallel between the tumultuous existence of the human spirit and the noble art of whaling.

We can say that Moby Dick is about the struggle between man and fate, the confrontation between free will and divine justice, or the impact of the human spirit with an irremovable demiurge, but Moby Dick is actually about everything. The whaleship Pequod, travels the globe like a modern Noah’s Ark, carrying with it all religions and human philosophies, to seek out the famous white whale, and if you make only one trip by boat in your life, you should do it on this one.
